Funds to support Boys & Girls Club afterschool program in Poughkeepsie and the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Athena Awards
The partners of McCabe & Mack LLP in Poughkeepsie, NY, today announced a new grant to support the recent Poughkeepsie expansion of the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh’s successful afterschool program, as well as sponsorship for the Dutchess County Chamber’s upcoming Athena Awards to honor community leaders in the region. The funding was generated in celebration of McCabe & Mack LLP’s ongoing commitment to the local community, and was announced at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the unveiling of its new logo today.
“We are deeply appreciative of McCabe & Mack’s generosity in providing funds to support the expansion of the Boys & Girls Club’s programs for at-risk youth in Poughkeepsie,” said Kevin White, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh. “From offering academic enrichment to K-8 students during the school year and at full day summer camp, to providing teens with a place to socialize on Friday and Saturday nights – our students want and need these crucial programs that keep them safe, engaged with positive role models, and on track academically. Our youth deserve our commitment and our best efforts and we are so grateful for the support of the entire community in making this a reality.”
“The annual ATHENA Award is given to a member of the community who best embodies the personal traits of strong, successful leaders – a collaborative leadership style, courageous acts and fierce advocacy in the pursuit of excellence,” said Frank M. Castella, Jr., President and CEO of The Chamber Foundation, Inc. and the Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce. “We are pleased to include McCabe & Mack among our ATHENA Award event sponsors and proud to support them in their announcement.”
“McCabe & Mack was founded more than 120 years ago by John E. Mack, a civic leader whose legacy includes services as a district attorney, judge and political advisor to Franklin Delano Roosevelt,” said David L. Posner, Esq., Managing Partner. “Starting with John Mack and Joseph A. McCabe, and continuing on with all of our partners through the years, the attorneys of McCabe & Mack remain committed to the ideals of public service and giving back to the community.”
“McCabe & Mack established a donor-advised fund years ago with the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley expressly for the purposes of making grants to nonprofits in the community,” said March S. Gallagher, Esq., President and CEO of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley. “Their corporate leadership – both in establishing a fund, and by encouraging each of their attorneys to volunteer their time to serve on local nonprofit boards – demonstrates their commitment to our region and to our community.”
